The Centre for
Signal Processing (CSP) was first set up as a research centre in the School of EEE in 1991. From August 1995 to March 2002, CSP received its core funding from A*STAR (then NSTB). Since April 2002, CSP has been re-organized as a research centre in the School of EEE.
The Centre has more than
35 faculty staff members, 50 researchers and 115 students.

To spearhead the research and
development of digital signal processing
technologies for the future.

The logo consists
of the 3 letters, "CSP" housed within a frame. The simple and yet elegant
design symbolises the harmonisation of the numerous activities carried out
in the Centre.
Firstly, the letter "S", looks like musical note,
signifying speech and audio activities.
|
|
Secondly, the different thickness
of the curves in the logo depicts the adaptive processing activities. The
2-D logo has a 3rd dimension to it - the exciting 3-D world of image and
video activities.
Lastly, the logo resembles an integrated circuit chip
labeled with the three letters "dsp" which represents DSP hardware and
implementation activities. The Centre hopes to be in tune with industry,
working in close collaboration on projects and in technology transfer. The
globe-like structure signifies the Centre's goal of achieving world class
status. |
To be an internationally
referred Research Centre in selected areas of
signal processing technologies. |
